A 41-year-old Nigerian man, Elvis Nosakhare, has been sentenced to six years in prison by a UK court for sexually abusing the underage daughter of his girlfriend.

The sentencing followed his conviction on two counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a child and three counts of engaging in non-penetrative sexual activity. The offences took place in the Thames Valley area after Nosakhare met the girl’s mother on an online dating platform.

According to a statement published on Thursday by Thames Valley Police, Nosakhare, who resides in Sheelin Grove, Bletchley, was sentenced on July 29 at Aylesbury Crown Court. He had earlier pleaded guilty to the charges.

In addition to the prison term, the court placed Nosakhare on the Sex Offenders Register for life and issued a restraining order to protect the victim.

Detective Constable Bryn Smith of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit, who led the investigation, praised the victim for her courage during the investigation and court proceedings.

“I want to commend the victim for her bravery throughout both the investigation and court proceedings. I hope this sentence gives her some sense of justice,” Smith stated.

He also encouraged other victims of abuse to come forward, assuring them of police support and protection.

This incident comes just weeks after another Nigerian, Adewale Kudabo, was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment for sexually assaulting a female patient at York Hospital, where he worked as a healthcare assistant.
