Nnadozie, Madugu shortlisted for 2025 Ballon d’Or awards

Date:

Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and head coach Justine Madugu have been shortlisted for prestigious awards at this year’s Ballon d’Or ceremony.

Nnadozie is in the running for the Women’s Yachine Trophy, which honours the best female goalkeeper in the world, while Madugu has been nominated for the Women’s Johan Cruyff Trophy for the best women’s coach.

The Yachine Trophy is named after legendary Soviet Union goalkeeper Lev Yashin. Nnadozie will compete against Ann-Katrin Berger (Germany), Cata Coll (Spain), Hannah Hampton (England) and Daphne van Domselaar (Netherlands) for the award.

Madugu, meanwhile, will face competition from England’s Sarina Wiegman, Arsenal Women’s coach Renee Slegers of the Netherlands, Chelsea Women’s coach Sonia Bompastor of France, and Spain’s Arthur Elias.

The winners will be announced on September 22 at the Théâtre du Chatelet in Paris, France.

Madugu’s nomination comes after guiding the Super Falcons to their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco without a single defeat — a run that also earned her the Best Coach of the Tournament award.
