Flight operations at Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, were disrupted on Monday as hundreds of physically challenged persons protested the closure of the Farmcraft Centre for the Blind, a government-run school shut for nearly two years. The demonstrators blocked major access roads, causing severe traffic gridlock that left many passengers trekking long distances to meet their flights, with some missing departures entirely.

Protest leader “Mr. Dolor” said more than 500 participants joined the action to draw President Bola Tinubu’s attention to the stalled education of students at the centre, which has branches across Lagos. He said repeated appeals to state and federal authorities had gone unanswered. The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, in a travel advisory, confirmed the disruption and urged travellers to seek alternative routes and verify flight schedules.
