Neville hails Arsenal defence following 1-0 win over United

Date:

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has praised Arsenal’s defensive resilience after their 1-0 victory over the Red Devils on Sunday.

Riccardo Calafiori scored the decisive goal in the 13th minute, and despite United’s efforts to find an equaliser, Arsenal held firm to secure their first clean sheet of the season.

Goalkeeper David Raya produced a series of key saves to deny United and was named Man of the Match for his performance.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville commended Arsenal’s defensive organisation and determination, even though the Gunners were not at their fluent best.

“Arsenal really dug in. They showed a lot of resilience,” Neville said. “We know how good they are defensively. The goalkeeper made some really good saves and the back four got better as the game went on.

“Arsenal were never at their best, but to come to Manchester, whether it is Old Trafford or Manchester City’s ground, it’s always tough.”
