Arsenal have been handed a major boost with Gabriel Jesus stepping up his recovery from the knee injury he sustained earlier this year.

The 28-year-old striker underwent ACL surgery after being forced off during the Gunners’ FA Cup third-round defeat to Manchester United in January.

During his absence, Arsenal strengthened their attack with the additions of Noni Madueke, Viktor Gyökeres, and Eberechi Eze in the summer transfer window.

Jesus, however, now looks close to a return. On Sunday, he shared a video of himself back training on the grass, posting: “It’s been seven months of pain, uncertainty, and anxiety. Today, I finally feel light, like a child playing football again. GOD IS GREAT.”

The news further lifts the mood around the Emirates after it was confirmed that Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard’s knocks in the 5-0 win over Leeds United were not as serious as initially feared.
