Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has officially launched her latest Guinness World Record attempt — cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice using 250 bags of rice.
The culinary star, who shot to global fame in 2023 after breaking the record for the longest cooking marathon, flagged off the ambitious feat at Eko Hotels, Lagos, before a lively crowd of fans and supporters.
Before the cooking began, Hilda was spotted praying with her mother, a moment that drew loud cheers from the audience. Many described the touching scene as proof of the strong family support behind her journey.
In a light-hearted post before the event, Hilda wrote:
“Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself. In just a few hours, this same pot will carry thousands of servings of Nigerian Jollof history in the making.”
The event, originally scheduled for Muri Okunola Park, was shifted to Eko Hotels following overwhelming interest, with more than 20,000 people registering to attend.
