Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has publicly criticized his colleague, Mavo, calling him “untalented” and claiming he relies heavily on auto-tune to produce music. Portable made the comments during a video broadcast shared on his social media page.
The Zazu hitmaker shared a clip of Mavo’s live performance and asserted that, based on what he observed, Mavo lacks musical talent. Portable contrasted Mavo’s performance with that of his own signees, suggesting they are more skilled.
He said, “Mavo uses auto-tune. I’ve been seeing some celebrities associating and collaborating with you. You now went to do a live band. Is that how to perform? Even my signees sing better than you.”
Portable also criticized the handling of Mavo’s live performance, describing it as “shambolic” and blaming established artists for supporting “overhyped” performers instead of recognizing real talent.
Mavo has not yet responded to Portable’s criticism, leaving the controversy unresolved and fueling discussions among fans and industry observers.
