The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticised the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, over his claim that the opposition party is “no longer a political party,” describing the remark as unfortunate and indicative of “delusional propaganda.”
In a statement on Monday, PDP National Publicity Secretary Ini Ememobong said the party remains relevant despite defections, noting that public dissatisfaction with President Bola Tinubu’s administration continues to outweigh any internal challenges faced by the opposition.
Morka had earlier said, “The PDP is incapable, by its own internal dysfunction, of offering its members any sensible, credible, smart, actionable platform to pursue their political aspirations.”
Responding, Ememobong dismissed the claim, accusing Morka and the APC of orchestrating defections to weaken the PDP. “Despite large-scale defections facilitated by the APC, Nigerians have consistently rejected the ruling party, which continues to inflict hardship on citizens,” he said. The statement also drew a controversial historical comparison, suggesting that Morka’s defence of APC policies echoed propaganda tactics used by Nazi Germany, adding that history would hold him accountable.
The PDP’s position has been weakened by a wave of defections, leaving it with only two state governors in Oyo and Bauchi, while the APC now controls 31 of the 36 states. The latest defection saw Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal join the ruling party, continuing a trend that has intensified since 2025.
