The 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria and state governments to intensify efforts to protect the lives, health and property of citizens amid current socio-economic challenges.

Bayero made the appeal after delivering his Eid al-Fitr message following the two-rakat prayer marking the end of Ramadan at his palace in Nasarawa area of Kano, according to a statement issued by his spokesperson, Abubakar Balarabe Kofar Na’isa.

He urged leaders at all levels to take into account prevailing economic realities facing Nigerians and ensure that the protection of lives and property remains a top priority.

“Our leaders must take into account the current realities facing the people and ensure that the protection of lives and property remains a top priority,” he said.

The emir also called on citizens to continue praying for their leaders and maintain goodwill toward them as they carry out their responsibilities.

He prayed for sustained peace, progress and divine guidance for leaders to effectively address key challenges facing the country, particularly insecurity, rising food costs and access to essential commodities.

Bayero commended the Federal Government, members of the National Assembly and state legislatures for their support to citizens during Ramadan, expressing hope that such efforts would continue beyond the fasting period.

He also praised Islamic scholars and imams for their guidance throughout Ramadan and lauded business owners and wealthy individuals for supporting vulnerable members of society with food and essential items.

The monarch congratulated Abba Kabir Yusuf, government officials and the Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of Ramadan and the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
