VC Adedimeji bags double recognitions

Date:

The Vice-Chancellor of the African School of Economics (ASE), Mahfouz Adedimeji, has been honoured with a fellowship of the Academy of Innovative Research, Science and Technological Development in recognition of his contributions to innovation, research, and higher education development in Nigeria.

The recognition was announced during the academy’s third national conference, themed “Attaining Socio-economic Development in Nigeria through Science, Technology and Innovation,” held at the Nigerian National Merit Award House.

At the event, Adedimeji was also appointed a member of the academy’s Board of Directors, in acknowledgment of what organisers described as his leadership in advancing scholarship and institutional development.

Responding to the honours, Adedimeji expressed appreciation to the academy’s leadership and pledged to work with other board members to promote research, strengthen academic collaboration, and support development initiatives within and beyond the university system.

Meanwhile, the ASE Vice-Chancellor congratulated Adegboyega Karim, Dean of the institution’s Postgraduate School, on his appointment as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

Adedimeji described the appointment as well deserved, citing Karim’s contributions to academia, national development, and security-related initiatives over several decades. He expressed confidence in Karim’s capacity to support institutional growth and academic excellence at the university.

He also commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, for the appointment, describing it as a recognition of the African School of Economics’ contributions to higher education.

Adedimeji further assured the new Pro-Chancellor of the support of the university’s founder, Leonard Wantchekon, its Board of Trustees, and the wider ASE academic community during his tenure.
