Three Killed in Fresh Attack on Jos South Community

Date:

Unidentified gunmen have launched a deadly attack on Nyamgo Gyel in Jos South, raising renewed concerns about the deteriorating security situation in the region.

The victims—Luka Sandu Pam (36), Samuel Davou (38), and Deme Saidu (35)—were ambushed while returning home from Gero on a motorbike.

Eyewitnesses told Channels Television that the group was part of about 15 youths returning from a mining site when they ran into the attack.

Gyel Youth Leader Dung Davou said the victims came under sudden fire from suspected armed herdsmen, forcing the group to flee.

“We started hearing sporadic gunshots, and everyone scattered. Unfortunately, three of our people were killed,” he said, urging authorities to take urgent action against repeated attacks on the community.

The incident comes shortly after a separate attack in Jos North, where at least 10 people were killed and several injured in Angwan Rukuba community last Sunday.

Security experts have warned that such recurring attacks highlight persistent vulnerabilities and the need for enhanced protective measures in Plateau State.

Authorities have yet to confirm the identities of the attackers or release details of any ongoing investigations
