Russian Teacher Stabbed to Death by Student in Perm Region

Date:

A 17-year-old student in Dobryanka, Perm region, Russia, fatally stabbed a school teacher on Tuesday, local authorities reported.

The victim, Olesya Petrovna Baguta, born in 1970, taught Russian language and literature and was attacked at the entrance of her school, according to Dmitry Makhonin, the regional governor. “Unfortunately, despite all the doctors’ efforts, she could not be saved,” he said.

The suspect, a student at the school, was detained by police, with Russia’s Investigative Committee confirming the attacker’s age as 17.

In recent months, authorities in Russia have reported several violent incidents in schools, including knife attacks in the Urals and Siberia and an air gun attack in central Russia, highlighting growing concerns over student safety.
