APC Debunks Adeleke’s Claim on LG Funds, Sparks Political Row in Osun

Date:

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned Governor Ademola Adeleke and his commissioners against accusing President Bola Tinubu of withholding funds meant for local government allocations. The party described the allegation as misleading and urged state officials to exercise caution in their public statements.

The APC was reacting to comments by the Commissioner for Education, Dipo Eluwole, who claimed on a radio programme that the Federal Government had been holding back allocations due to the state. APC spokesperson Kola Olabisi dismissed the claim, arguing that federal allocations to states have significantly increased in recent times.

Olabisi also referenced the February 10, 2025 Court of Appeal judgment, noting that reinstated APC local government chairmen were beneficiaries of the ruling, which affirmed their constitutional roles. He further advised the commissioner to present accurate information to avoid misleading the public.

On other issues, the APC faulted Eluwole’s remarks on infrastructure damage at a state technical college in Osogbo, stating that the destruction was caused by a rainstorm and not government negligence. The party also rejected claims that funding challenges forced the government to halt the school feeding programme, insisting it was only implemented for about three months under the current administration.

Additionally, the APC criticised the Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, over allegations linking the party to internal disputes involving the state government. The party accused the Adeleke administration of making empty promises, questioned its media engagements, and predicted defeat for the governor in the August 15, 2026 governorship election, expressing confidence in APC candidate Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.
