The Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports claiming that Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, was removed as chairman of the forum, describing the information as false and misleading.
The reaction followed media reports alleging that about 20 APC governors met in Abuja on Thursday night and resolved to sack Uzodimma from his position as leader of the governors’ body.
In a statement issued by its Director General, Folorunso Aluko, the PGF said no such meeting took place and no decision of that nature was ever discussed or reached by its members.
The forum stressed that its secretariat had no knowledge of any resolution removing Uzodimma, adding that he remains the substantive chairman of the PGF.
Reaffirming its unity, the PGF urged members of the public, party supporters, and the media to disregard the report, insisting that it remains focused on its responsibilities within the ruling party.
