A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with Kabiru Turaki has dared the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to make good his threat of shutting down its operational office.
The confrontation follows comments by Wike during a recent media briefing in which he questioned the legitimacy of the Turaki-led faction and challenged it to openly operate if it truly existed. He also warned that any property used for party activities without proper recognition could be sealed.
In response, Ibrahim Abdullahi, a former PDP deputy national publicity secretary and aide to Kabiru Turaki, insisted that the faction already operates from a known location, adding that the minister was fully aware of the office’s whereabouts.
“We have been operating from an office. He knows the location; he should come there and take over the office if he can,” Abdullahi said, describing the facility as a temporary but functional base for the group’s activities.
He further cautioned that the ongoing internal crisis within the opposition party could deepen national instability, warning that the situation risked pushing Nigeria toward disorder.
Also reacting, Ini Ememobong, spokesperson for the Turaki faction, dismissed Wike’s comments, describing them as misleading and unrealistic. He also rejected claims about financial operations, insisting the faction was already functioning within its means.
The dispute highlights the widening rift within the PDP, as rival factions continue to clash over legitimacy, control, and party structures ahead of future political realignments.
