Adamawa Police Arrest Three Armed Robbers in Yola

Date:

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested three armed robbers terrorizing residents of Yola, the state capital. The operation was carried out on January 5, 2026, in collaboration with local community members under the Command’s Community Policing Initiative.

In a statement on Saturday, the police spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, identified the suspects as Auwal Inusa (19), Huzaifa Ahmed (19), and Lukman Abdullahi (19), all residents of Nassarawo Ward, Yola North Local Government Area. The gang allegedly armed themselves with cutlasses, daggers, and knives to break into a house along Nassarawo, Jimeta, robbing the occupants of valuables.

“Members of the community intercepted and arrested three out of four suspects while one escaped,” SP Nguroje said. Recovered items include two mobile phones, a power bank, a cutlass, and two knives used in the crime.

Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, commended the public for their vigilance and cooperation, urging residents to continue reporting suspicious activities. The suspects will be charged in court upon completion of investigations.

The Shilla gang, which began operations in 2015 during former Governor Jibrilla Bindow’s administration, initially targeted opposition party members but has since escalated to full-scale armed robbery.
