Armed Group Invades Kwara Church During Service, Nine Abducted

Date:

Suspected terrorists have reportedly attacked a church in the Oro-Ago community, Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, abducting nine worshippers during Sunday service. The heavily armed assailants stormed the church while services were ongoing, prompting panic among worshippers and residents who fled for safety.

Sources in the community confirmed that the attackers forcibly took nine people to an unknown location. Witnesses said the assailants carried out the operation swiftly, leaving the community in fear and confusion over rising insecurity in the region.

Residents have called on security agencies to urgently intervene and ensure the safe rescue of the kidnapped victims. As of filing, authorities have not released an official statement or confirmed whether a rescue operation has begun.

The attack comes amid heightened security alerts in Kwara South Senatorial District, following intelligence reports of planned coordinated attacks on Ifelodun, Irepodun, and Isin Local Government Areas. The suspected terrorists were reportedly preparing to strike these areas simultaneously on March 23 and March 28, 2026.

Security operatives across the affected areas have been put on high alert, with precautionary measures intensified. The Coordinator of the Joint Security Watch, Elder Olaitan Oyin-Zubair, urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to relevant authorities, including the Kwara State Police Command and local government officials.
