A notorious bandit leader in Benue State, Terhemen Mzaga Ber Gile, popularly known as “Fullfire,” has denied reports suggesting he plans to launch a retaliatory attack on the Ityuluv community or his brother, Judex, also known as “Chen Hobbo.”

Mzaga addressed the claims via social media, describing them as unfounded and aimed at inciting fear. He urged residents to remain calm, affirming that he harbours no ill will toward either the Ityuluv people or his brother.

“I have no problem whatsoever with the people of Ityuluv or with my brother Judex,” he stated. “It saddened me deeply when I heard that our fathers, mothers, brothers, and sisters were losing sleep over false rumours of revenge.”

The tensions reportedly arose after a recent vehicle-related incident, which Mzaga described as an “unfortunate accident.” He expressed gratitude for surviving the event and said he remained hopeful for better days.

In a conciliatory move, Mzaga extended an olive branch to Judex, urging unity amid rising external threats. “Let us come together and focus on the real enemy—those who seek to divide and destroy the Tiv Nation,” he said.

Addressing perceived rivalry over leadership, Mzaga expressed his willingness to step aside. “If it’s about leadership, I am ready to surrender. I agree, he has won. I surrender, as long as there is respect for age and tradition,” he added.

He also criticised local political actors whom he accused of exploiting youth divisions for selfish political gain. According to him, such individuals, often unsuccessful in elections, manipulate community tensions to remain relevant.

“Our community in Torov has suffered long enough,” he said, calling for a shift away from divisive politics and violence.
