British rapper Central Cee, born Oakley Neil Caesar-Su, has revealed that he has converted to Islam, announcing that he has taken his shahada and changed his name accordingly.
The “Band 4 Band” crooner shared the news during a recent livestream, where friends congratulated him as he confirmed, “I just changed my name and took my shahada, I am a Muslim now.”
Prior to this announcement, Central Cee had not publicly declared a formal religion. His revelation marks a significant personal and spiritual milestone for the UK drill star.
Central Cee was born on 4 June 1998 in London to an English mother and a father of Guyanese and Chinese descent. His parents separated when he was seven, and he was raised in Shepherd’s Bush with his mother and two younger brothers.
He began his music career in 2014 with an appearance on Fire in the Streets and released his breakout single Day in the Life in June 2020. Since then, Central Cee has risen to prominence as a leading figure in the UK drill music scene.
