Poyet: Ugarte Should Consider Leaving Manchester United

Date:

Former Chelsea midfielder Gus Poyet has advised Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte to leave the club this summer, citing concerns over the player’s lack of game time. Poyet expressed frustration over Ugarte’s limited role under caretaker manager Michael Carrick and emphasized that a move could help the midfielder revive his career.

Poyet revealed that watching Ugarte struggle at Old Trafford has personally affected him, noting his connection to the Uruguayan international. He described the situation as disappointing, given Ugarte’s potential and past performances at PSG.

The former Chelsea star recalled that he had wanted Ugarte to join Chelsea before the midfielder’s move to PSG, believing it would have been the perfect step for his development. Poyet admitted feeling upset when the transfer did not materialize.

Poyet highlighted that Ugarte has not fully flourished since leaving PSG, emphasizing that limited opportunities at both Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United have hindered his progress. He stressed the importance of finding the right club where Ugarte can play regularly.

In conclusion, Poyet urged the Uruguayan midfielder to seek a fresh challenge, suggesting that a change of environment is crucial for his career growth. He stressed that staying at Manchester United without regular minutes could further stall Ugarte’s development.
