Super Eagles B coach, Eric Chelle, has attributed his team’s 4-0 loss to Sudan at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) to costly mistakes made by his players.
Nigeria’s defeat on Tuesday, courtesy of an own goal by Leonard Ngenge, strikes from Walieldin Khedr, and a brace from Abdel Raouf, ended their hopes of progressing in the competition. The result followed a 1-0 opening-day loss to Senegal.
Speaking after the match, Chelle admitted that his side failed to manage the game, particularly in the second half, and paid the price for repeated errors.
“We did a lot of mistakes and we gave up the game in the second half,” Chelle said. “Four goals, four mistakes. We did a lot of mistakes in these two games [Senegal and Sudan].”
Nigeria will play Congo in their final group match, but the fixture will be a formality as they are already eliminated from the tournament.
