The Ogoga of Ikere Kingdom, in Ekiti State, Oba Samuel Adejimi Adu, has called on politicians in his domain to keep the interest of Ikere-Ekiti, as top in their priorities and shun all forms of bitterness in their dealing with one another.
Oba Adejimi Adu, made the remarks in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, in his message to the people at the first ever “Odun Oba Festival 2017”, calling on the people of the town to be peaceful and ignore the machinations of those tiny evil group.
Oba Adu said, “we continue to give glory to God that despite the
machinations of those tiny evil group, who think they can through lies and propaganda disrupt the peace of this kingdom in their delusional devilish plot to rewrite our history, they continue to fail, they continue to bring ridicule to their own heads.”
The Ogoga, added that as a people they stand for the truth and God is with them and the world is seeing through their shenanigans, adding that not before long they will fizzle away.
He noted that as a people, they have faith in God that things can only get better in Ikere and as the months and years unfold, progress, development and peace of God will continue to manifest.
In his welcome address, the chairman of the “Odun Oba Planning Committee”, Otunba Sola Adewumi, said the day is set aside by their forefathers to display rich culture of Ikere kingdom and pay homage to king, adding that “this is the grand finale of all Ikere annual festivals.
He noted that Ikere-Ekiti is witnessing the birth of “Odun Oba” which is the rebranded “ Idupe Oba” inherited from their ancestors, pointing out that the events will tell about the extraordinary nature of Ikere kingdom, their societies’ accomplishments and historic contributions.
The events which was colourful had many sons and daughters in
attendance including the Atta of Ayede, Oba Abdul Mumuni Orisagbemi, the Eyesorun of Ado-Ekiti, Olorin Bosede Adejugbe, Chief Ransome Olorinfemi, Chief Dimeji Isiaka, Mrs. Chinyere Ogunsakin, Barr. Dayo Akinlaja, SAN,
At the ceremony, ROYAL NEWS reports that there were various cultural displays which includes children cultural carnival, displays by age groups, by traditional chiefs and priests and more which also includes over 43 registered clubs and associations in Ikere town.
The Odun Oba 2017, which had the theme: Racing The bar Higher, had security beefed up in town at strategic locations to compliment the well planned ceremony that was held inside the Ogoga palace. Many different attires were completing for space at the festival.
