Emir of Bauchi Backs Engineers to Drive Nigeria’s Development

Date:

The Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu, has reaffirmed his support for the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), stressing its vital role in driving the nation’s growth and development.

Speaking through the Dansaran Bauchi, Alhaji Jibrin Hussaini Jibo, at the annual general meeting of the NSE Bauchi Chapter held at Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, the monarch described engineering as the backbone of modern civilisation. He noted that Nigeria’s progress depends largely on the innovations and contributions of its engineers.

Jibo, a former chairman of the Bauchi State Internal Revenue Service, raised concerns about the frequent collapse of infrastructure across the country. He warned that the trend disrupts daily life and undermines socio-economic growth, while calling for climate-resilient projects and stronger collaboration among engineers, policymakers, traditional leaders, and communities.

On his part, the Bauchi State chairman of NSE, Engr. Abdulrahman Sulaiman Hassan, said the AGM provides a platform for professionals and industry leaders to exchange ideas, foster growth, and influence policies that can drive technological and economic advancement. He urged Nigerian engineers to champion sustainable practices and lead the push for modern infrastructure to strengthen the nation’s development agenda.
