Emir Sanusi Urges Kano Government to Sentence Killers to Death After Murder of Woman and Six Children

Date:

The Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, has called on the Kano State Government to ensure that anyone found guilty of killing innocent people faces the death penalty, warning that leniency would only fuel further violence.

The Emir made the call on Monday, January 19, 2026, while speaking to journalists in reaction to the brutal killing of Fatima Abubakar and her six children in the Chiranci Dorayi area of Kumbotso Local Government Area, Kano State.

Describing the incident as tragic and deeply disturbing, Sanusi stressed that allowing murderers to go unpunished would encourage the continued killing of innocent citizens.

“If a person kills and is allowed to go free, then the killing of innocent people will never stop,” the Emir said.

He also offered prayers for the souls of the deceased and asked Almighty God to grant their husband and the wider Muslim community the strength and patience to bear the devastating loss.

Meanwhile, the Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three suspects in connection with the murder. According to the police, investigations are ongoing to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
