Emir Sulu-Gambari mourns Prof. Jibril Aminu, Justice Lawal Uwais

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Mai-Martaba Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, has expressed sadness over the demise of a foremost Nigeria politician and academician, Professor Jibril Aminu and former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mohammed Lawal Uwais.

While Professor Jibril Aminu died on Thursday at the age of 85, the former CJN was reported dead on Friday at the age of 89.

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari, in a condolence message issued by his spokesman, Dr Abdulazeez Arowona, described the demise of the duo of Prof. Aminu and Justice Uwais as a monumental loss to the nation and humanity in general. “We have indeed lost great minds, disciplinarians and symbols of national consciousness and democratic advancement”, he said.

The Emir added that while late Aminu was a genius academician, administrator and politician, late Uwais was one of the finest judicial officer and CJN in the history of Nigeria. Both Prof. Aminu and Uwais were my very close friends with whom we shared longstanding relationships with, both officially and personally.

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari eulogised the deceased emphasizing on their contributions to the unity, peace and development of the country with their respective professions stressing that their names have been ‘stamped in gold’ with what they stood for during their lifetimes.

He also sent his condolences to the immediate and extended family members of the deceased, government and people of Adamawa and Kaduna States for the great and irreparable losses.

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari prayed Almighty Allah to grant absolute forgiveness, accept their good deeds and admit them into Al-janatul firdaos.
