An Enugu North Magistrate Court has remanded three suspects, including a notorious ritualist, Obi Levi Obieze, over alleged involvement in kidnapping and multiple murders in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Obieze, alongside Sebastine Emeka Offor and Odinwamkpa Ejike, was arraigned on Wednesday by the Enugu State Police Command on a seven-count charge, including conspiracy, kidnapping, and murder. According to the charge sheet, the suspects allegedly kidnapped several individuals — including a 13-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy — and killed two victims, identified as Chimaobi Ezi and Joy Miracle Udokamma.
Following their not-guilty plea, Magistrate Osondu Chukwuani ruled that the case be transferred to the Director of Public Prosecutions for review, noting that the Magistrate Court lacks jurisdiction to hear capital offences. The case was adjourned to August 20, and the accused were remanded in custody. Obieze was reportedly arrested while attempting to flee Nigeria at the Badagry-Seme border.
