Event planner, Funke Bucknor-Obruthe and her husband are celebrating their 14th wedding anniversary.
In a post shared on her Instagram page this afternoon, January 22, Funke reflected on their marital life. She said there have been times they were tempted “ to get off the train, bus or plane “ but they have come to the understanding that every marriage is different.
Her post reads
”14 years ago , we both took that leap and said I do on the 20th of January . He won’t admit it but he cried that day oh lollll as soon as he saw me walking down the aisle .
How I walked slowly that day I don’t even know but i my dad held me down lollll .
It’s been a journey and a half. It’s not been a perfect ride as most things in life aren’t and we’ve been tempted “ to get of the train , bus or plane “ but hey , we’re still here lolll.
There is no perfect marriage , as it’s two imperfect people coming together as one ….. but we’ve recognized the humbling fact that every marriage is different, different people , ideals , situations , circumstances and challenges.
We continue to compromise !!!!communicate!!!! and learn, unlearn and relearn ( chai ) inspite and despite the challenges we choose each other and focus on the good and great moments lolll …..
I remember when I used to complain about my husband playing football every Saturday ( yes ) and even watching it too much but now I beg please play and watch on …I need my Saturdays ….
May we continue be friends of each other and love each other and grow daily in God’s love ,grace and purpose for our lives .
