Food will be in abundance by 2017, varsity don predicts

A University lecturer in the department of Accounting at the University of Jos, Mr. Tsenba Wummen Bako, has said that he is positive that Nigeria would soon get out of the current economic recession.

According to the don who spoke to ROYAL NEWS in Jos, the Plateau State capital on Monday, “Nigeria must look to agriculture, Mining, tourism and manufacturing to get out of these shackles.

“Poverty has to be tackled seriously if the country would get out of recession. To get quickly out of recession,   Nigeria must also  cut its dependence on foreign goods, increase local production and enhance entrepreneurship. These would help save the local currency which currently carries too much pressure.”

Bako also expressed regrets that Nigeria has failed to make use of the huge opportunities in agriculture, Mining  and  manufacturing sectors in the past , stressing that, “The nature of recession in the country should be understood by everyone , adding that the country started experience recession because of the activities of Oil and gas vandals.
He however advised that, “We should cut the importation of food  to enable us develop agriculture. With the diversification of the economy of the nation as carried out by the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration and governors keying into it, “I predict that there would be abundant agricultural products by the end of 2017.”
