FRSC Launches Patrol to Enforce Speed-Limit Devices in Zamfara

Date:

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Zamfara State has launched a special patrol to curb reckless driving and enforce the installation of speed-limiting devices among truck operators.

The Command’s Public Education Officer, Aliyu Isah, announced the initiative in a statement issued Thursday in Gusau. He said the operation was prompted by frequent cases of overloading, mixed loading of goods, animals, and passengers, as well as excessive speeding on major routes across the state.

According to Isah, patrol teams will monitor highways to apprehend violators. Offences include failure to install speed-limiting devices, covering number plates, and operating unregistered vehicles.

Sector Commander Aliyu Ma’aji called on motorists to comply with the enforcement exercise and cooperate with FRSC personnel. He cautioned that offenders would face prosecution in line with traffic laws.

Ma’aji also emphasized the importance of adhering to safety regulations, particularly along the Zamfara–Sokoto highway, which has witnessed frequent traffic violations.

The commander urged drivers to exercise caution during the “ember months,” a period traditionally associated with increased road traffic and higher accident risks.

He reiterated that the patrol was part of FRSC’s broader strategy to reduce road crashes and ensure safe travel for passengers and motorists across the state.
