Germany to supply Ukraine with 7 self-propelled howitzers
Arrangements have been concluded by the Government of Germany to supply Ukraine with seven self–propelled armored howitzers, Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht said in Sliac, Slovakia on Friday.
He said Germany would offer training on the Panzerhaubitzen 2000 artillery system, which featured a cannon mounted on a tracked vehicle and resembled a tank.
According to the German Army, with standard ammunition, the howitzer reaches firing distances of 30 kilometers, with ammunition of improved range, up to 40 kilometers are possible.
Lambrecht announced the commitment of new weapons while visiting German soldiers in Slovakia, which borders Ukraine, who have been deployed to help NATO reinforce its eastern flank.
The German government under Chancellor Olaf Scholz had been repeatedly accused by leaders in kyiv of not doing enough to help fend off the Russian invasion.
