Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State on Wednesday visited communities in Kauran Namoda Local Government Area recently affected by a wave of bandit attacks.
The Zamfara Circle Community Initiative reported that in recent weeks, 144 people had been kidnapped, 24 killed, and 16 injured across several local government areas. In July, bandits allegedly killed 33 kidnapped victims in Banga town after collecting a ransom of ₦50 million.
During his visit to Banga, Sakajiki, Kuryar Madaro, Maguru, and Tambarawa, Lawal condoled bereaved families and pledged to intensify security operations. He accused the attackers of targeting communities to instil fear and urged residents to remain steadfast in prayers.
The governor also promised improvements in road networks, electricity, potable water, and mobile telecommunications in the affected areas.
