Hajj 2023: Again, MAX Air makes another emergency landing in Kano

For the second time in less than 24 hours, MAX Air has made emergency landing at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano with the the hajj pilgrims from Jigawa State heading to Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj exercise.

ROYAL NEWS recalled that on Wednesday, the pilgrims had emergency landing in Kano after departing Malam Aminu Kano International Airport for Mecca and where retuned at the wee hours of Thursday and had to be returned back again around 5.40am for another emergency landing.

The first aircraft Boeing B747 5N-HMM with 554 passengers including crew members of 21 that departed Dutse international airport around 4.30pm on Wednesday had a lightining strike that affected the noose of the aircraft , another B747 was assigned to airlift the pilgrims around 2.30am on Thursday.

However, the aircraft after about three hours flight developed a technical issue around Cameroun airspace and had to quickly turn back to Kano.

The noose of the first aircraft affected by lightening on its way to Saidia Arabia, on Wednesday.

Confirming the development, Kano Max Air Manager, Malam Bello Ramadan told SOLACEBASE that the aircraft had to return to MAKIA over some technical issue.

“The pilgrims would continue the journey to Saudia Arabia later today as the previous aircraft has been fixed awaiting certification from Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, (NCAA)”, sources confirmed.
