Dutse, Jigawa State, Former Jigawa State Governor and founding father of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Sule Lamido, has thrown his weight behind the opposition coalition led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) but insists his loyalty to the PDP remains unshaken.
Speaking at an empowerment programme organised by Senator Mustapha Khabeeb (PDP, Jigawa South West) in Dutse, Lamido said. At the same time, he supports the unification of opposition forces, but he will not defect to another party.
“Yes, I support the coming together of the opposition under the ADC, but let it be known: I will never leave the PDP,” Lamido declared.
“I built this house with my sweat and soul. My role now is to offer guidance and help Nigeria find its way back.”
He blamed the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the country’s deepening economic woes and insecurity, warning that the ruling party has failed in every critical area of governance.
To demonstrate unity among opposition parties, Lamido introduced ADC’s Jigawa State Chairman, Kabiru Hussaini, to a cheering PDP crowd, a symbolic act many see as a show of solidarity ahead of the 2027 elections.

In his address, Senator Khabeeb echoed Lamido’s concerns, contrasting the progress recorded during PDP’s rule with what he described as APC’s failure.
“From 1999 to 2015, especially under Lamido’s leadership, Jigawa experienced real development of roads, hospitals, and schools. What do we have now? Nothing but hunger and hopelessness,” he said.
Khabeeb highlighted his efforts to empower citizens, revealing that over 3,000 beneficiaries across the state had received tools to support agriculture and small businesses. Items distributed include:
600 irrigation machines
100 solar-powered irrigation units
100 paddy rice threshers
750 sprayers
3,000 litres of herbicide
Sewing and grinding machines
“We’re not waiting for miracles, we’re taking action. One machine, one tool at a time, we are lifting people out of poverty.”
The event ended with chants of “PDP! Power!”, as supporters pledged to defend the party’s legacy and build momentum for what many are calling a grand political comeback in 2027.
