Residents of Oyo State and members of the Take-It-Back Movement on Monday staged a protest at Mokola Roundabout in Ibadan, demanding the immediate rescue and release of abducted pupils, teachers, and the principal of Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area.
The protesters, who gathered as early as 8:00 a.m., carried banners and placards condemning the growing insecurity in the state and urging security agencies to take swift action. Some of the inscriptions read, “Save Our Children,” “End Kidnapping In Oyo State,” and “Free Ogbomoso Kidnapped Victims.”
The demonstrators described the abduction as a disturbing sign of worsening insecurity across Nigeria, stressing that schools should not become targets for kidnappers and criminal gangs.
Members of the Take-It-Back Movement accused the government of failing in its responsibility to protect lives and property, insisting that citizens deserve safety rather than fear.
The protest followed the May 15 invasion of Community High School in Ahoro-Esinle by gunmen, who abducted the school principal, Mrs Rachael Alamu, alongside several teachers and students during school hours. The Oyo State Police Command confirmed the incident, which reportedly occurred between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
