Nollywood actress and activist Iyabo Ojo has broken her silence following a series of viral videos in which a group of men publicly wished her death and accused her of obstructing justice in the ongoing investigation into the death of late singer Mohbad.
In the videos, widely shared on social media, the men were seen marching through the streets of Lagos, carrying placards featuring images of Ojo and Mohbad. One man, who appeared to lead the group, alleged that the fire incident at Ojo’s Lagos office was a form of divine retribution and warned of more suffering for her and her family.
Taking to Instagram, Ojo issued a detailed and emotional statement addressing the threats. She clarified her role in the #JusticeForMohbad campaign, stating unequivocally that she never accused anyone of being responsible for the singer’s death. Rather, she said her advocacy was rooted in the demand for transparency and urged certain individuals to cooperate with police investigations to clear their names.
Ojo also disclosed that she was recently invited by the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre in Abuja, following petitions alleging cyberbullying and the spread of false information in connection to Mohbad’s controversial death.
The actress, who has been a vocal figure in seeking justice for the late singer, described the ordeal as emotionally draining. She recounted being subjected to smear campaigns, online harassment, and personal threats, including a chilling anonymous letter received just days before her daughter’s wedding in Tanzania. The letter warned she would “go through hell in the next three months.”
Despite the threats, Ojo reaffirmed her commitment to advocating for justice and urged the public to remain focused on uncovering the truth behind Mohbad’s death.
