ICPC Traces Multiple Egyptian Properties to Former Kaduna Governor El-Rufai

Date:

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has reportedly uncovered several high-value real estate assets in Egypt linked to former Nasir El-Rufai, the ex-Governor of Kaduna State.

According to reports by TheCable, the discoveries are central to the ICPC’s ongoing investigation into alleged financial misappropriations during El-Rufai’s tenure from 2015 to 2023.

The assets include three villas and six apartments located in upscale Cairo districts. Villas in Arabilla Estate and Banafsik Estate, both in New Cairo, reportedly sell for between $1 million and $1.3 million, while apartments in Cairo Festival City are valued at around $500,000 each.

Specifically, the properties traced to El-Rufai include a villa at Arabilla Estate in the 5th settlement area, another at Banafsik Estate in the 1st settlement area, and a villa in Oriana II, near the American University in Cairo.

El-Rufai has been in ICPC custody since February 18, 2026, as investigators probe his alleged involvement in financial irregularities while in office.

Prior to his ICPC detention, he was also questioned by the Department of State Services (DSS) over claims that the phone of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, was tapped.
