The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Thursday confirmed it carried out an overnight airstrike on a Hezbollah military facility located in the town of Yohmor in southern Lebanon.
According to an official statement, the targeted compound was allegedly operating under the cover of a civilian structure, a tactic the IDF condemned as endangering non-combatants.
“The headquarters operated under the guise of a civilian structure, with the Hezbollah terror organization exploiting the civilian population to advance terror activities against the State of Israel,” the statement read.
The IDF criticized the move as a violation of longstanding understandings between Israel and Lebanon, aimed at preventing the militarization of civilian areas and avoiding escalation along the volatile border.
The Israeli military said precautions were taken to minimize civilian casualties, but did not provide specifics on damage or whether there were any injuries or fatalities resulting from the strike.
The airstrike is the latest in a series of military exchanges along Israel’s northern frontier, where clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah have intensified in recent weeks.
Tensions between the two sides have been steadily rising, raising fears of a broader conflict in the region.
Hezbollah has not yet issued a public response to the strike. The situation remains fluid, with both sides reportedly on high alert.
