The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has dismissed claims that its General Overseer, Enoch Adeboye, engaged in campaigning for any government or political party, insisting that he has consistently maintained a neutral stance on partisan politics.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the church said Pastor Adeboye has repeatedly encouraged members to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in elections by voting according to their conscience, rather than endorsing any candidate or party.
The The Redeemed Christian Church of God also rejected reports suggesting that the cleric cancelled a planned protest, clarifying that he only communicated directives from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria regarding adjustments to a scheduled three-day prayer programme.
According to the church, the adjustment involved moving the grand finale of the prayer programme to a centralized venue, alongside a coordinated rally organized under PFN guidance for member churches nationwide.
It further explained that the decision was not political and applied broadly to all churches under PFN affiliation, rather than being a unilateral action by the RCCG leadership.
The church also dismissed allegations that Pastor Adeboye deliberately avoids commenting on national issues, stating that he has, on several occasions, spoken on insecurity, corruption, economic hardship, elections, governance, and leadership responsibility.
It added that his approach to national matters is often expressed through moral counsel, prayer, and spiritual guidance rather than partisan political statements.
RCCG cautioned against what it described as repeated misinformation, urging the public, bloggers, and media practitioners to verify any claims about the church or its leadership through official communication channels.
The statement stressed that any information not issued or confirmed through RCCG’s official platforms should not be treated as the church’s position, adding that it will continue to correct false narratives where necessary.
