Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the representative of Ideato Federal Constituency in Imo State, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Action Peoples Party (APP). He announced his move on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, during a political gathering in Akokwa, Ideato North Local Government Area.
Ugochinyere cited a prolonged internal crisis within the PDP as the reason for his defection, describing it as a “long-standing squabble” that has weakened the party’s cohesion and focus. He added that some party leaders have treated the PDP as their personal enterprise, further aggravating the situation.
