International Flights Resume at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Airport After Airspace Reopening

Date:

International flights are set to resume at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport following a gradual reopening of Iranian airspace, according to the ISNA news agency.

The first scheduled routes will connect Tehran to Istanbul in Turkey and Muscat in Oman, marking an early step in restoring international air travel links.

Iran’s airspace had been closed following a US-Israeli conflict with Iran that began on February 28, forcing a suspension of most commercial international operations.

Authorities have been cautiously reopening the airspace under a ceasefire arrangement, allowing limited flights to resume in phases.

Last week, officials confirmed that Mashhad International Airport, which serves Iran’s second-largest city in the northeast, would also reopen to international traffic.

On Friday, flight tracking data indicated that at least two international departures had already taken place from Mashhad, heading to Turkey and Oman respectively.

The gradual resumption of services suggests a coordinated effort by Iranian aviation authorities to restore connectivity while maintaining operational and security controls.

Further announcements are expected as additional airports and routes are brought back into service in the coming days.
