IWCC CEO, Limota Goroso lauds Gov. AbdulRazaq over appointment of female commissioners
The Director of International Women Communication Center (IWCC), Dr. Limota Goroso, on Thursday commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State for his courageous efforts in supporting women in the state by appointing them into leadership positions.
ROYAL NEWS reports that the State House of Assembly on Monday appeoved the request of Governor AbdulRazaq to appoint 10 special advisers and 20 commissioners which was dominated by women appointees.
In statement issued on Thursday, Dr. Goroso said: “We thank Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for supporting women into leadership positions interms of 50:50 appointment in elective and appointive postions .
“It is hope that other leaders accross the world will begin to integrate 50 /50 agender for both male and female in development agenda. It is commendable and courageous for the Governor of Kwara State to have done these honours to Kwara women.
“We, as IWCC, one of the formost feminist Womens Rights and Gender Advocate in Kwara State, have to issued several commendable statement.
“We urge the state Assembly to screen and confirm all the appointed women for the final screening as Honourable Commissioners.”
“It is a milestone that is worthy of celebration. Governor AA of Kwara state is our role model on issue of gender sensitivity in both elective and appointing position” Goroso said.
