Dr. Betta Edu, the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, has been released on bail.

ROYAL NEWS reports that Dr. Edu was released on late Tuesday night.

This follows an investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) into an alleged N585 million cash transfer scandal that took place under her ministry.

The suspended minister, who was at the office of the EFCC on Tuesday, has been mandated to report to it daily. It could be recalled that President Bola Tinubu had on Monday morning suspended the minister pending the conclusion of the investigation into the alleged crime she committed.

It would be recalled that Betta Edu is accused of transferring a sum of N585 million naira meant for humanitarian activities into a private account.
