JUST IN: Erik ten Hag Sacked by Bayer Leverkusen After Two Games

Date:

Bayer Leverkusen have parted ways with Erik ten Hag just two league matches into his tenure as head coach.

The former Manchester United manager was dismissed on Monday following a 3-3 draw with Werder Bremen on Saturday. Leverkusen had looked set to claim victory despite Niklas Stark receiving a second-half red card for Bremen, only to concede two late goals, including a 94th-minute equaliser.

Ten Hag’s only home game in charge ended in a 2-1 defeat to Hoffenheim during the season opener. Jarell Quansah had given Leverkusen an early lead, but the visitors staged a comeback to secure the win. Earlier in the season, Leverkusen defeated Sonnenhof Grossaspach 4-0 in the first round of the DFB-Pokal under Ten Hag.
