
The Kwara State House of Assembly has suspended Saba Yisa Gideon, representing Edu State Constituency, for three months over an allegation of contempt of the Legislature.
The decision was taken during the plenary sitting of the House held today, following the consideration of a motion without notice moved by the House Leader.
Lawmakers were informed that Saba Yisa Gideon was given a fair hearing and admitted to the allegation before an ad-hoc panel set up to investigate the matter.
In line with the provisions of the Legislative Houses (Powers and Privileges) Act, 2017, the House directed that the suspension take immediate effect.
The suspended lawmaker was also ordered to submit a formal letter of apology to the House within the suspension period.
