Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has officially rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC) following his resignation from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

The defection comes just three days after the governor announced his exit from the NNPP, citing prolonged internal crises and lingering legal disputes that he said had weakened the party’s unity and effectiveness across the country.

Newsmen had earlier reported that Governor Yusuf was expected to return to the APC on Monday, shortly after he tendered his resignation from the NNPP last Friday.

His return to the ruling party follows a wave of defections in the Kano State House of Assembly, where the Speaker, Jibril Ismail Falgore, his deputy, Muhammad Butu-Butu, the Majority Leader, Lawan Hussain, and 19 other lawmakers recently defected from the NNPP to the APC.

The latest development marks a significant political shift in Kano State and is expected to reshape the balance of power ahead of future political contests.
