Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, have arrested a 37-year-old suspect, Ali Muhammad, and seized 8,000 bottles of Akuskura — a herbal mixture suspected to contain illicit drugs — along with 48 blocks of Cannabis sativa.
NDLEA spokesperson Sadiq Maigatari confirmed the arrest in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the operation took place at Gadar Tamburawa along the Zaria-Kano Road. He explained that the suspect was apprehended after officers intercepted a trailer transporting tricycles from Lagos to Maiduguri, where the drugs were concealed between the tricycles and hidden beneath a wooden cover inside the vehicle.
The NDLEA said all exhibits and the suspect are now in custody pending further investigation and laboratory analysis. The agency commended the diligence of its operatives and urged the public to report suspicious consignments or activities to the nearest NDLEA office or law enforcement agency.
