Date:

The Katsina State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (KTPCACC) has opened investigations into alleged fraud totaling ₦188.6 million involving fertilizer scams, mismanaged school funds, and financial irregularities in the state’s Department of Banking and Finance.

In a statement, the Commission said preliminary findings showed that councillors and Community Development Officers (CDOs) diverted ₦46,061,000 during the distribution of subsidised fertilizers under the Community Development Programme.

The suspects, drawn from Musawa, Malumfashi, Matazu, Faskari, and Funtua local government areas, allegedly collected illicit sums ranging from ₦52,000 to more than ₦25 million. Some have reportedly confessed and begun refunds, while others remain under investigation.

The Commission also disclosed that ₦136,126,970 was misappropriated within the Katsina State Department of Banking and Finance. So far, ₦70,370,000 has been recovered, with over ₦34 million still outstanding.

KTPCACC Secretary, Dr. Jamilu M. Abdulsalam, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to accountability, saying, “We will pursue all lawful means to ensure accountability and recovery of public funds.”

The Commission assured residents that investigations would continue with “utmost seriousness and professionalism” to safeguard public resources and advance a corruption-free Katsina State.
