Kwara Commences Free Cancer Screening

Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq CON

The Kwara State Ministry of Health will commence the screening of Kwara citizens for breasts and cervical cancer, with immediate effect, free of charge, across the Sixteen Local Government Areas of the State.

ROYAL NEWS gathered that this development followed the directive of Governor AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Ahmed El-lmam stated this over the weekend, during a press session in her office at Fate, in Ilorin metropolis.

According to the Commissioner, the screening follows the approval of Governor AbdulRahaman AbdulRasaq’s approval of free medical outreaches in the State, through which people in the state have benefited, especially the downthrodden, consequent upon which, their health standards as well as services have improved.

Dr El-Imam reaffirmed that the just approved cancer screening is part of the commitments of this administration, to quality health service delivery, for the entire people of Kwara State.

According to her, “Medical Experts will be on ground to screen and lead positive cases to affordable treatment, as early discovery leads to better treatment.”

She therefore urged Kwarans to seize the golden opportunity by going all out to do their breasts and cervical cancer screening, which will be flagged off at Bode -Saadu Primary Health Care center, in Moro Local Government on Monday 21th October 2024 while on Thursday 24th the medical team will stop at Osi Primary Health Care Center in Ekiti Local Government to continue the excercise.

Furthermore, on Monday 28th it will be Ilorin West Local Government’s turn, at Pakata Primary Health Care, Ilorin.

“For further details, on the outreach, please check Kwara State Ministry of Health’s Social Media Handles” she concluded.
