The Kwara State Fiscal Responsibility Commission (KWFRC) has conducted an inspection of various capital projects executed by the Moro Local Government Council to ensure transparency and accountability in the use of public funds.
Chairman of the Commission, Barrister Abubakar Othman, who led the delegation, said the inspection aligns with the Commission’s mandate to monitor government expenditure and ensure budget implementation at both state and local government levels.
Barr. Othman emphasized that the Commission is open to public scrutiny and welcomes inquiries from citizens regarding government spending. “We are here to ensure that public funds are being used judiciously, and citizens have the right to know how resources are allocated and utilized,” he said.
Receiving the delegation, the Deputy Permanent Secretary (DPM) of Moro Local Government, Mr. Ayinde Olayinka Ajulo, expressed appreciation for the Commission’s oversight role and pledged continued commitment to projects that directly benefit residents.
Among the inspected projects were the construction of 40 shops and a gatehouse at the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq Ultra-Modern Trailer Park in Oloru; the provision of five sets of chairs and lockers at the council secretariat; and the construction of two classroom blocks at Adaara.
Additional projects include the reconstruction of the collapsed Weru Bridge along Maigida Road, renovation of the Local Government staff clinic, legislative chamber, and several departmental buildings at the Bode Saadu Secretariat. The council also undertook the grading of Eji-Elelu-Oloko Road and installation of hand pump boreholes in Adaara.
Other executed projects comprise the refurbishment of the Chairperson’s official vehicle and the Secretariat’s Hilux vehicle, procurement of official vehicles for the DPM and Local Government Treasurer, acquisition of two generators for use in the secretariat, and the purchase of two 33/0.1 400V transformers for the local government.
The council also carried out repairs on motorized and hand pump boreholes across several communities to improve access to clean water.
The inspection underscores the state government’s ongoing commitment to fiscal discipline and transparency in governance at all levels.
