Kwara Govt Committed to Enhancing Revenue Generation in Partnership with Joint Tax Board

The Kwara State Government has affirmed its dedication to collaborating with the Joint Tax Board (JTB) to enhance the internally generated revenue, aiming to accelerate socio-economic, infrastructural, and human capital development in the State.

During a courtesy visit by the Executive Secretary, JTB, Mr. Olusegun Adesokan, at the Ministry of Finance in Ilorin, Dr. Mrs. Hauwa Nuru, the Commissioner for Finance, emphasized the importance of this collaboration in expanding the state’s revenue base and ensuring the continued delivery of democracy dividends and good governance.

Expressing gratitude for the visit, Dr. Nuru acknowledged the timely nature of the interaction, anticipating that it would reinforce the positive relationship between Kwara State and the Joint Tax Board.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Mall. Folorunsho Abdulrasaq, highlighted concerns about double taxation affecting Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMSEs) and called for specific laws to address and improve the taxation system.

Mr. Olusegun Adesokan who appreciated the warm reception by the Commissioner and her Management team, commended Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for appointing capable women to key positions and acknowledged Kwara State’s proactive payment of subscriptions to the JTB, emphasizing the State’s commitment to infrastructural development.

Present at the meeting were the State Accountant General, Mallam Abdulganiyu Sani, Executive Chairman of KW-IRS Shade Omoniyi, and other key officials from the Joint Tax Board and KW-IRS.
